About me
The subjects I choose for my art are humble, everyday people, and yet I paint them in a way that honors their depth, beauty and voices.

Through their eyes and their hands, one can connect with them and the history they carry. This is what I am most interested in, and it comes through in my paintings. I create art that disrupts "accepted norms" and is meant to question the "standards" of beauty simply by lifting the subject up and out of obscurity. As an indigenous Latino who has always been drawn to marginalized peoples, my work focuses on their often overlooked stories. The realism, the purity, and the sincerity of the sentiment expressed in the faces of my subjects are my source of inspiration. My paintings reflect life's realities; suffering, love, struggle, joy, loneliness, tenderness and vulnerability.

Artistic background
My artistic background.

I grew up during the Pinochet dictatorship in a military family and did not receive support in my deep passion for art. I had to become somewhat rebellious. I found my place in the East Bay and have lived here since 1998. With an unwavering commitment to excellence and beauty, my art embodies a continuous pursuit of growth and mastery. My oil paintings invite viewers into a world of richness and detail, brought to life through a refined technique of layering wet oils on canvas. This method, reminiscent of ancient traditions, allows me to create textures and hues that evoke both emotional depth and vibrancy.
